"The former Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein, has been hanged in northern Baghdad for crimes against humanity."

Executing Saddam raises many issues (far more than it solves). The most serious, in my mind, is that the trial was universally condemned as being flawed; which raises the question, was Saddam executed so that he could not embarrass the US government, who supported him for many years? I bet Saddam could have told some very bad stories about high ranking US government officials. We'll never know the truth about what happened now, as there is only one side left to tell the story; and that strikes me as being too convenient.
